An ‘Exhaustive Event’ considers the probability of all the possible outcomes for an experiment under consideration. For example, if rolling an six-sided die, the outcomes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are collectively exhaustive, as these numbers cover the entire range of possible outcomes for the experiment. [1]
‘Data Exhaust’ or ‘Exhaust Data’ are terms to define ‘the trail of data left behind during the activities of users’ who use the internet or another computer system. Part of a broader category known as ‘Unconventional Data’; which includes ‘geospatial, network, and time-series data’, is not purposefully created by a user, it is generated behind the scenes, recording what websites a user visits, what links they click, and where their mouse hovers on a webpage. Though this data provides insight to help improve the online experience, it compromises the privacy of the users habits, who are often unaware they are being tracked in this way. [2]
