In a unique partnership between the BBC R+D, Arts Council England and Calling the Shots , we are pleased to announce the launch of the South West strand of New Creatives Interactive 2020.
As the project lead in the South West, Calling the Shots will be working with Somerset Film (Bridgwater), Kaleider (Exeter), Create Studios (Swindon) and Screen Cornwall (Redruth) to bring an opportunity that encourages creatives to experiment and connect with BBC audiences and beyond.
The call is open to any new creatives in the south west, aged between 16-30, who have something to say via the medium of interactive art. We are looking for enthusiastic, curious, and driven individuals that have an idea that they wish to develop through the collaborative process of the project.
12 applicants will be chosen to participate in a 3-day development process to collaborate with their fellow Interactive New Creatives cohort. They will work in small teams, under the guidance of a SWCTN mentor to rapidly develop their ideas into practical proposals for interactive online content. These project plans will then be brought to an assessment panel, comprising of BBC, SWTCN and CTS representatives.
For the intensive collaborative hands on programme we will offer a one-off participation fee of £250 to cover the three days.
Ideas that are successfully commissioned will receive professional mentoring and a budget of up to £5,000 to make the project happen.
Due to the Covid-19 crisis the New Creatives South West Interactive programme has been redesigned for online delivery and online platforms. If restrictions ease, we will seek ways to work together physically in the future.
